Abiding In Him, The Secret To Lasting Wealth
In a world where we are used to quick fixes, food and results. Many of us are prone to become part of the name it and claim it a bunch. Faith in God must be without dissimulation (Romans 12:9). God wants our affections and attention to be solely focused and lavished on Him. Our love for Him must be without guile or motive either than loving Him just for being our Father.
We should be careful not to use our faith as a bargaining chip with God to get our own way. Sadly, all of us have that tendency. These past two weeks I have been reflecting about what is the substance of my faith, is it in the fact that I receive from God because I have a measure of faith or is it of God Himself?
Nothing, you see, is impossible with God.” Luke 1:37 MSG
God is able to bring to pass everything we can ever desire because there can be nothing that limits Him. He is not only Omnipotent, Omnipresent and Omniscient. Nothing limits the Creator of the universe. Not a single thing. However, God wants us to work our faith in love and in an ever hopeful state:
And now abide faith, hope, love, these three; but the greatest of these is love. 1 Corinthians 13:13 NKJV
God is very much interested in us becoming and realising our fullest potential, to be like Him in every aspect. To use our faith for our own benefit and never to the glory of His name will be a misappropriation of heavenly resources. He wants to work His character, nature and heart into us, then we can be powerful and our faith will produce the kind of results He desires.
“I am the true vine, and My Father is the vinedresser. 2 Every branch in Me that does not bear fruit He takes away;[a] and every branch that bears fruit He prunes, that it may bear more fruit. 3 You are already clean because of the word which I have spoken to you. 4 Abide in Me, and I in you. As the branch cannot bear the fruit of itself, unless it abides in the vine, neither can you, unless you abide in Me. John 15:1-4 NKJV
The man was made to glorify God and not himself, when we do not abide in Him we are not living a life that glorifies Him. We are designed to bear more fruit, this fruit is to do the bidding and God’s pleasure. We have not had a sound view to biblical wealth, we think God gives it to give us a better life, yes in part but just like father Abraham, he was to be a blessing not just the blessed.
His name, Yehoshua, is from the root word ‘yesha’ in Hebrew it means, deliverance; salvation; rescue; welfare; safety; victory and prosperity.
So when we are talking about God-kind of wealth we are talking about the embodiment of Christ, He is our real prosperity. When we abide in Him, we have all the above, and even life everlasting in the next life. God’s best is already given, it is Yehoshua on the cross declaring, “It is finished!”
God wants us to be a blessing, not just be the blessed! There is the world out there that needs “Yesha” kind of life, but we miss it, our prayer and focus is on our needs.
We have true wealth inside of us, He is in us, but He wants us to abide and remain in Him, remain in Him and then, boom the provision flows. We will inherit the fullness of God if we add to our faith, what my dear friend Harry calls faith additives: 1 Peter 1:5-9 MSG
So don’t lose a minute in building on what you’ve been given, complementing your basic faith with good character, spiritual understanding, alert discipline, passionate patience, reverent wonder, warm friendliness, and generous love, each dimension fitting into and developing the others. With these qualities active and growing in your lives, no grass will grow under your feet, no day will pass without its reward as you mature in your experience of our Master Jesus. Without these qualities you can’t see what’s right before you, oblivious that your old sinful life has been wiped off the books.
We have been given immeasurable wealth through the cross, lets not waste a minute seeking perishable wealth, lets abide in the True Vine!
God bless you
